Homeland Hospice 5K imageOn the morning of Saturday, June 3rd, 2017, the 3rd annual Evelyn’s Heroes for Homeland Hospice 5K was held.  Over 100 runners/walkers participated in the race. The goal of the yearly event is to bring awareness to the different types of programs and services Homeland Hospice offers, as well as involve the individuals who take part in them.

Some include:
– Massage Therapy
– Pet Therapy
– Music Therapy
– Hair and nail care
– In-home relief program for caregivers – a monthly service that provides caregivers 40 hours of complimentary in-home relief

“Our 5K’s naming sponsor was due to a donation from eight grandchildren of a woman named Evelyn Filippi,” stated Myra Badorf, Assistant Director of Development for Homeland Hospice.  “Evelyn’s grandchildren wanted to honor the memory of their grandmother by making a donation in her name, continuing the practice of generosity she instilled in them.” Nineteen of Evelyn’s family members were present on race day.

“We couldn’t hold this event without the monetary contributions from our sponsors as well as the strong support and commitment from volunteers and staff,” added Badorf.  “The 4th Annual 5K is already in the planning stages and will be held in the spring of 2018.”
